The Modern Beat Ensemble Pieces

After some consultation with local music teachers, I came to realise that there are two common issues facing high school percussion groups; either they don’t have the instruments, or the players’ skills levels are too variable.

These pieces are all written for ‘exploded drumset’, so if you have an old drumset lying around then you’re good! The pieces all have one or two very easy parts, and one or two slightly more advanced parts - however, don’t let the difficulty put you off! I would encourage you to workshop them with you students and come up with original variations - the more ownership they have of their performance the better!
